2022 WTCR livery unveiled | Hyundai N
As the countdown to the new WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup season continues, our customer has revealed the livery for the pair of Elantra N TCR cars set to compete for wins and podiums in 2022.
Livestreamed directly from Palazzo Salmatoris, in BRC Racing Team’s hometown of Cherasco, Italy, the covers were lifted on the new design by Team Principal Gabriele Rizzo and drivers Norbert Michelisz and Mikel Azcona. Joining them at the event was our Deputy Team Principal Julien and our new Customer Racing Manager Andrea.
“The live show in Cherasco was a great way to officially launch our customer’s WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup season,” said Julien, our Deputy Team Principal. “Being part of the event was a great opportunity to meet with Gabriele Rizzo and the rest of the team as they continue their preparations for the season.”
The big reveal
The BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse livery features the familiar red, dark blue and performance blue colours of our Customer Racing teams. As he has done in his previous four WTCR campaigns, Norbert will once again be running the #5 on his Elantra N TCR this year. In his first year racing a Hyundai, Mikel will continue with #96 which has brought him success in previous TCR competition.
The reveal was the latest step for BRC Racing Team in their busy pre-season, with testing to continue as they prepare for the first round of the campaign in May at the Pau Ville street circuit.
Challenging for wins
Both Norbert and Mikel have already been busy testing the Elantra N TCR with the team at circuits they will visit during the season, putting them in the best position to challenge for race wins from the opening weekend.
“For me winning the WTCR title for a second time has to be the goal,” commented Norbert. “The Elantra N TCR is a great car – we know that from last year – so there is no reason not to believe I can achieve that.”
“We’ve been able to do quite a lot of testing,” said Mikel. “I’ve not had the opportunity to do that for the last few years – so I feel like I’m in a very strong position to the start the WTCR season.”
“With our Customer Racing support engineers, BRC Racing Team has been able to complete some all-important testing in the last few months which will be invaluable when the racing starts,” said Julien. “The extra work the team and both drivers have done will hopefully put our cars at the front of the pack when the racing gets underway.”
